Fundraising
Fundraising is an essential part of our programme. In order to make more costly activities affordable, and to support those who need it, we run fundraising activities a couple of times a year. We expect all to join in and develop skills through it. Fundraising activities may include for example preparing and selling food or selling raffle tickets. Your support as well as your child’s is highly valued. There are also other ways you can help us raise funds.

Gift Aid
Gift Aid is a tax relief set up by the Government to enable charities to claim back 25p for every eligible £1 donation. In order for us to reclaim the tax on your donations, you must pay an amount of UK Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax at least equal to the tax that the Group reclaims in each tax year.

It is very simple and only requires you to make a declaration that you want your subscriptions to be treated as Gift Aid payments. Once you complete the declaration this covers your child(ren) until they leave the Group. You need only notify the Group if you change your name or address or are no longer able to confirm the details on the declaration.

Uniform purchases
Purchasing uniforms and any Scouting memorabilia from East Somerset District Scout Shop also helps to keep your money local. It can be temping to pick up uniform from other sources, but buying from volunteer led Scout shops helps reinvest funds in our local resources and activities. You can find the East Somerset District Scout Shop at St Andrews Scout Hut, Preston Grove, Yeovil BA20 2BQ (see website for opening times) or online.

Hut hire
Our Scout Hut is available for hire outside of regular meeting times, and every booking directly boosts our Group's funds! Suitable for events, parties, training - and members of the Scout Group get a discount. Find out more on the hut hire page.
